What’s happening?

If you haven’t done so already, now is a great time for your business to upgrade to Windows 11, because Microsoft has now stopped any major updates for Windows 10.

The current and final operating system edition is Windows 10 version 22H2. Microsoft have said that they will release security updates for Windows 10 22H2, but only until October 14^th, 2025. After this, any Windows 10 devices will become exposed and vulnerable to various security risks.

What does your business need to do?

There are two major things that need to be checked:

Software

There’s approximately 21 months until all support for Windows 10 stops. Therefore, it’s recommended by Microsoft, that if your business hasn’t updated to Windows 11, now is a great time to get started with the task.

Hardware

You also need to check that your hardware is compatible. Anything before an 8^th Generation Intel processor or equivalent, will not be supported by Windows 11.

Why shouldn’t your business continue using Windows 10 after the end of support date?

As mentioned before, the end of support date for Windows 10 is October 14^th, 2025. Use of Windows 10 after this date is not recommended as any new or unpatched security vulnerabilities will not be remediated by Microsoft. Third-party software may also become unusable on Windows 10 as software publishers update their products.
